The Australian Tea Tree is mainly cultivated in New South Wales. It is an evergreen shrub or tree, grows up to 7 m tall and has a bushy crown. The tea tree is a hermaphrodite, which means that it has both female and male genitals.

Extraction of essential tea tree oil

Essential tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves by steam distillation and has a clear color. 50 kilograms of the leaves make one litre of oil.
