Plant

The lemon tree originally stems from India and has been brought to Europe throughout time. The lemon tree is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree. Compared to other citrus plants, it is fast growing and large. Especially young shoots are covered with small, thin thorns. The shoots are reddish, the buds are pink, and the otherwise white petals are pink to purple on the underside.

Extraction of essential lemon oil

The clear essential lemon oil is obtained by cold pressing the fruit skin. 3000 lemons are needed for 1 liter of oil.

Cosmetic use of essential lemon oil

Lemon essential oil tones and detoxifies. It also stimulates blood circulation, cleanses oily skin and helps soften wrinkles. It is also used to lighten facial skin and is used for oily and acne-prone facial skin.

Buying & using essential lemon oil – what to consider?

Lemon oil can be slightly irritating to the skin, therefore only small doses should be applied. Sunlight on skin treated with lemon oil can cause irritations and therefore sun exposure should be avoided after a treatment.
