10 May DIY Anti-Frizz Hair Spray
If your hair is on the dry side you know what Frizz is. In dry heating air, high humidity or when there is no moisture in the hair, the hair “flies” and/or curls. This phenomenon is called frizz and in here we present a natural DIY anti-frizz hairspray based on aloe vera and broccoli seed oil. The homemade spray can be used on both wet and dry hair and ensures that the hair is provided with sufficient moisture and the frizz is tamed.
WHAT CAUSES FRIZZ?
You can be imagine the structure of healthy hair like this: the hair scales are closely lined up like roof tiles. Thus the hair is enclosed and protected from external influences. However, if the hair is brittle and dry, this is a sign that the cuticle layer is roughened, no longer supple, and permeable. The hair then tries to supply itself with moisture and tries to get it from the air especially when there is increased humidity. The air humidity now penetrates under the cuticle layer and the hair begins to frizz.
In general, curly or wavy hair tends to dry out more quickly. But external factors can also roughen the hair structures. These include chemical coloring, too much sunlight, or excessive use of straightening irons for example.
1. WASHING YOUR HAIR PROPERLY
Washing the hair properly is essential for good hair health. Hair should not be washed too often, otherwise, it will dry out, as too much of the naturally produced oils are washed out. 2 to 3 times a week should do it. When washing your hair, use a shampoo that moisturizes the hair. Ideally, the shampoo contains nourishing oils such as argan oil. Also do not wash too hot, but only with lukewarm water. It is best to rinse the hair with cold water at the end. The cold water seals the hair structure and binds the moisture.
2. DRYING YOUR HAIR PROPERLY
After washing the hair, carefully dab the wet hair dry. Never wring it out or rub it with a towel. The rough fibrous structures of terry towels roughen the hair structure. It is best to simply take an old cotton T-shirt and pat the hair dry with it.
Even if it sounds paradoxical at first, blow-drying helps to prevent frizz for straight hair. The heat ensures that the hair is sealed. Always make sure that heat protection is used, and blow-drying is carried out not too hot, too close, without an attachment and in the direction of growth. Naturally curly hair should be air-dried. The heat of the blow dryer would dry it out too much.
3. PROPER HAIR CARE
The right care is essential when dealing with frizz. A hair mask should be used at least once a week. If you feel like your hair could use one more often, then go ahead. It is also best to vary hair masks to find out which active ingredients your hair reacts particularly well to. The use of hair oils and spray conditioners after washing is also recommended. Simply add to wet or dried hair and knead in lightly.

RAW MATERIALS USED
The homemade anti-frizz spray is suitable for all hair types. If you are worried that your fine hair might look flat with the spray, we can reassure you it will not. The spray is a light conditioner that is only sprayed on the lengths, not on the scalp. The scalp is usually well moisturized, but the lengths need the moisture to become smooth and shiny.
Broccoli seed oil
Broccoli seed oil is gaining more and more importance for hair care. The oil’s erucic acid, which is considered a vegetable softener, makes it excellently suited for hair care (similar to products with silicone). In fact, broccoli seed oil has already been compared with chemical silicone-containing conditioners in several scientific studies, whereby the oil works just as effectively as silicone-added conditioners. The oil is in no way inferior to conventional conditioners in terms of ease of combing, shine, softness, and reduced charging. Broccoli oil nourishes and smoothes hair without leaving it stringy and can be applied to dry as well as wet hair.
Rosewater ensures that the hair shines beautifully and provides the hair with additional moisture. It also has a wonderful flowery scent and gives the hair a pleasant smell.
Aloe vera gel/juice
Aloe Vera is rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, which moisturize and give volume to the hair. In addition, the active ingredient is a softener that seals the cuticle layer of the hair, preventing moisture from escaping. Aloe Vera contains about 20 amino acids (the building blocks of our hair), and the gel-like substance nourishes and strengthens statically susceptible hair. For the creation of your own natural cosmetics, we recommend the use of natural aloe vera gel, as it contains the most nutrients. If you own a aloe vera plant, you can also simply harvest the gel yourself.
